Ο Μάνφρεντ Βέμπερ ανακοίνωσε σήμερα την υποψηφιότητά του για να διαδεχθεί τον Ζαν-Κλοντ Γιούνκερ στην προεδρία της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής, σηματοδοτώντας την πρώιμη έναρξη της εκστρατείας για τις ευρωεκλογές του Μαΐου.
“Θέλω να γίνω ο κορυφαίος υποψήφιος του ΕΛΚ για τις ευρωπαϊκές εκλογές του 2019 και να είμαι ο επόμενος πρόεδρος της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής”, έγραψε στο Twitter ο 46χρονος Βέμπερ στη διάρκεια συνεδρίασης με μέλη του Ευρωπαϊκού Λαϊκού Κόμματός του (ΕΛΚ) στις Βρυξέλλες.
